Do it for YOU ❤️

If you also tend to put other people's needs first - this one is for you.❤️

I recently realized that trying to save other people, trying to solve their problems (without even being asked), putting their needs, wants, and expectations before my own is what was holding me back in allowing myself to actually enjoy showing up.

I remember reading this chapter called "Motivation" in Elizabeth Gilbert's book "Big Magic", where she writes:

"You are not required to save the world with your creativity. Your art not only doesn't need to be original, it also doesn't have to be important. For example: whenever anybody tells me they want to write a book in order to help other people, I always think "Oh, please don't."

When I read this back in 2016 I didn't really understand what she meant by it, because as a coach and trainer I thought "Of course, I want to help other people! That's my job!"

After 4 years of creating online content, courses, training, and coaching programs, I now understand what she meant.

She meant that the vibration you send out when you do something for others in order to feel validated is one of "neediness". You "need" others to want, like and accept what you create. You put other people's opinions, expectations, and agendas before your own. This not only makes being creative extremely difficult, it makes it basically impossible to be authentic.

You are so attached to the outcome, that your creation is always at the mercy of others.

Take just writing this email for example - I am basically trying to make sense of my own realizations here, by writing them down.

I also want to connect with you and that is why I write it in this email to you rather than my journal, but ultimately I am doing this for myself.

If you are drawing some realizations from reading this, then we both have gained something.

Here are some questions to reflect on:

  • What are you allowing yourself to create just for YOU?

  • When you create something for others, do you already have the opinions or expectations of your audience in mind?

  • What would it look like if you followed your own feeling of joy?

The thing is, of course, it is useful to think of relevance for your audience, but ultimately the way you present yourself or something will determine your vibration and make your presence so much more magnetic when you are doing it for YOURSELF. ❤️

If you require support (not help!😎 ) in showing up authentically for YOURSELF, you can also reply to this email or schedule a chat with me.

Thank you for reading this creation, I truly appreciate you.

With so much love, light, and creative energy 🌈
